Aisha Retno Targets Indonesian Music Market With Single "Semoga Saja"

JAKARTA - Malaysian soloist Aisha Retno has become Ade Govinda's latest collaborator, who recently officially launched single "Semoga Saja".

Collaborating with Indonesian musicians is nothing new for the 25-year-old singer. However, working with Ade Govinda is said to have had a different impact.

"This collaboration really started from scratch, we wrote the song together, and finally, this song came to fruition. Also, Ade is a pretty great composer. I'm very, very grateful to have this opportunity," Aisha said during a recent virtual interview with VOI.

"And I think this is one of the biggest collaborations I've had this year," she added.

When asked about her hopes for collaborating with Ade Govinda, Aisha said her main goal was to expand her network beyond the neighboring country.

Indonesia—although not explicitly mentioned—is one of the markets that interests her. Besides being born to a mother who had a musical career in Indonesia, Jean Retno Aryani, Aisha feels that Indonesian society is quite open to various types of music.

"Indonesians are very open when it comes to music. I mean, they're very accepting of various musical genres. It's just a matter of preference, I think, whether they choose to listen or not," she said.

For your information, Aisha Retno released her first single, "Mengikat Jiwa," in 2019.

Since then, Aisha has consistently released new music every year. Her song "W.H.U.T." (2021) is her best-selling work on Spotify, with 85 million streams.
