Reporting from Antanews, Basarnas Deputy for Operations and Preparedness Edy Prakoso said that the collapse of the building occurred on the same day when the casting activity took place since morning. The provisional suspicion related to the collapse of the Al Khonzy boarding school building was due to the less strong foundation.

"It is suspected that the foundation was not strong enough so that the building from the fourth floor collapsed to the ground floor," explained Edy, who received the report from Basarnas officers.

The collapsed building itself is a prayer room. Although still in the construction stage, the prayer room has been used for santri religious activities, especially for prayer and recitation. When it collapsed, prayer room was used for prayer.

The statement came from one of the seventh grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTS) Al Khoziny named Wahid. According to him, the Islamic boarding school prayer room had shaken until it finally collapsed.

"When entering the meeting, the two sides of the prayer room collapsed, then spread to other parts of the building," Wahid explained.

Wahid himself managed to save himself. He invited other students to evacuate themselves. According to his statement, the number of students who attended the prayer at the time of the incident was more than 100 people.

Responding to the incident, the caretaker of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School, Buduran, Sidoarjo, KH Abdus Salam Mujib apologized, especially to the victims. He asked everyone to be patient.

"Yes, I think this is God's destiny, so everyone must be patient. And hopefully it will also be replaced by God who is better," said Mujib, quoted by CNN.

He also hopes that the injuries and sorrows experienced by the victims will be replaced with rewards.

"Is given a very, very reward, yes, I cannot express and may be rewarded by Allah SWT which is more than this disaster," he said.
