KPAI: 2,093 Children Involved In Riots At The End Of August, 13 Still Detained
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) reported that at least 2,093 children were involved in the riots that occurred from August 2025 to September 2025. Of these, 13 children are known to be still being held in several regional police stations.
KPAI chairman Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah revealed that the pattern of involvement of children is very diverse, ranging from the invitation of peers, classmates, alumni, to the influence of provocations on social media. KPAI also found indications of massive child mobilization.
"Based on the results of the supervision of KPAI, KPAD, media, and our partners, 2,093 children were identified who participated or were involved in anarchist actions. The pattern includes invitations to solidarity, provocations on social media, to alleged organized mobilization," Margaret said during a working meeting with Commission XIII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, September quoted from ANTARA.

He added that KPAI found a number of violations of children's rights in this case, ranging from acts of physical violence, inhumane treatment, to detention exceeding the 24-hour time limit.
In addition, the institution also noted threats to children's education rights and restrictions on their communication with their families.
