Geely Officially Produces Cars In Purwakarta, Ready To Accelerate Low Mobility Emissions

JAKARTA The automotive brand from China, Geely, officially entered a new chapter by starting knock-down (KD) production at its manufacturing facility in Purwakarta in the third quarter of 2025. This production process adopts global technology standards used in all Geely factories in the world.

Previously, Geely had gone through a production trial phase since May and started assembling the Starray EM-i line-up in September. Production will continue with Geely EX5 and Xingyuan line-ups.

This collaboration with PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) is an important milestone that emphasizes Geely's long-term commitment to the Indonesian market. Local production not only strengthens the supply chain of the automotive industry, but also supports the transformation towards low-emission mobility. In the future, Geely is ready to expand its product portfolio by presenting a wider selection of vehicles.

CEO of Geely Auto Indonesia, Wu Chuxing, said that KD production in Purwakarta will accelerate the distribution of high-quality electrification vehicles for Indonesian consumers.

"The production capacity of up to 60 units per day allows consumers to obtain vehicles with shorter waiting times, as well as enjoy global standard performance, comfort, and safety," he said in an official statement, Monday, September 29.

Geely places local production as a strategic step to strengthen the base of the Indonesian automotive industry. To ensure that technology transfer runs optimally, Geely presents technical training, knowledge sharing, and direct assistance from the global team for local workers.

Production quality is maintained through an international standard assembly system, routine evaluation programs, and support for the Geely Manufacturing Enterprise System (GMES) to ensure consistency at each stage.

Mainstay technology such as the GEA Platform and Geely Short Blade Battery are now assembled in Indonesia. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) feature is also tested with special devices imported directly from China to function optimally in each unit.

This integrated step ensures that all vehicles produced locally continue to meet Geely's global quality and safety standards. KD production in Purwakarta is also a tangible manifestation of Geely's contribution to the acceleration of sustainable mobility in Indonesia, as well as supporting the government's decarbonization target and consumer needs for environmentally friendly transportation.
