Vice President Vance Says US Considers Tomahawk Missiles For Ukraine
JAKARTA - The United States is considering Ukraine's request for a long-range missile Tomahawk in its bid against Russia, Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the United States to sell Tomahawk missiles to European countries that will send them to Ukraine.
Speaking at "Fox News Sunday", Vice President Vance said President Donald Trump would make a "final decision" whether to agree to the deal.
"We are of course considering a number of requests from European countries," said Vice President Vance.
Vice President Vance added that Russia's invasion of Ukraine had stalled with little territorial gain recently.
"We have been actively seeking peace from the start of the government, but Russia must wake up and accept reality. Many people are dying. They don't have much results," he said.
The Tomahawk missile has a range of 2,500 km (1,550 miles), and will be a valuable asset for Ukraine in the fight against Russia's persistent series of missile and drone attacks.
Such arms shipments will almost certainly be considered by Russia as an escalation in its war in Ukraine.
