Dozens Of Houses Damaged Due To Extreme Weather In Malang

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Malang Regency noted that dozens of houses in Kepanjen and Gondanglegi sub-districts were damaged after the local area was hit by extreme weather in the form of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, Sunday, September 29.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division (BPBD) of Malang Regency, Sadono Irawan, in Malang, East Java, said that the average cause of damage was due to strong winds when rain hit the area.

"In Mangir Hamlet, Mangunrejo Village, Kepanjen District as many as 21 houses, in Krajan Hamlet, Urek-Urek Village, Gondanglegi District, four houses were damaged. The data is only temporary and can still develop," said Sadono.

In addition to being hit by strong winds, damage to houses was also triggered by fallen trees.

"The one who was hit by a fallen tree was two houses," he said.

Sadono explained that based on reports received, for incidents of rain accompanied by strong winds in Krajan Hamlet, Urek-Urek Village, Gondanglegi District, it occurred at 14:56 WIB.

The rain accompanied by strong winds that hit Urek-Urek Village caused a fallen tree that blocked the village road.

Meanwhile, in the Mangunrejo Village area, Kepanjen District, a similar incident occurred at around 15.15 WIB.

However, incidents caused by extreme weather, both in Gondalegi District and Kepanjen District, did not cause any casualties.

Until now, officers from the Malang Regency BPBD are still carrying out assessments and field identification, both the impact of disasters and the need for aid supply for the local community.

"We are assisted by TNI officers, the National Police, the Indonesian Red Cross, and the public," he said.

The supplies needed by residents in Krajan Hamlet include tarpaulins, folding mattresses, kitchen utensils, stoves, clothes, and food packages. While in Mangir Hamlet, there are tarpaulins and basic necessities.
