Janice Tjen Qualifies For WTA 125 Main Round In Suzhou, China
JAKARTA - Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen qualified for the main round of WTA 125 Suzhou in China after winning the qualifying final on Sunday.
The second seed in the qualifying round defeated Japanese tennis player Total Okamura past the tie-break in the first set at 7-6(3), 6-2.
In the match for one hour 37 minutes, Janice appeared strong by relying on her service by recording 87.5 percent compared to 65 percent of her opponent's.
The Jakarta-born tennis player also performed nicely with four aces, fewer double mistakes, and created five break points by converting two of them, the WTA said.
Furthermore, in the first round of the main draw, Janice will face American Varvara Lepchenko who defeated Victorian Androrra Jimernez Kasintseva with 7-6(3), 6-3 in the qualifying final.
In terms of ranking, Janice is superior to her 39-year-old potential opponent, who is currently ranked 147.

Janice is ranked 102nd in the world -- the highest in her career. She arrived in Suzhou after aground in the first round of the China Open, Thursday (25/6). Even so, she made an important note in her career through a qualifying round victory.
The 23-year-old arrived in the Bamboo Curtain country after becoming runner-up on his WTA debut in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The WTA 250 event made its ranking shot up to-103 in the world from the rankings of 130 in the world after its first appearance in the United States hard field Grand Slam.
According to WTA records, before arriving in New York for US Open qualifiers, Janice has won 45 of her last 50 professional matches.
During that period, it reached nine ITF finals, won six titles, and rose more than 200 places, from 371 to 149.
