Members Of The DKI DPRD Suggest That The MBG Program Needs To Be Evaluated Not Stopped

JAKARTA - Member of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Lukmanul Hakim, emphasized that the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program needs to be evaluated, but it has not been stopped because until now more than 20 million school children, pregnant women and other recipients in 38 provinces of Indonesia have felt the benefits.

"If there were a few days ago, MBG recipients had a lot of poisoning, of course, the supervision should be increased better, not the program that was stopped," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 28.

The affirmation was conveyed regarding 70 cases of poisoning from January to September 2025 and of the dozens of cases 5,914 MBG program recipients were affected, including seven students in North Jakarta.

Therefore, he disagrees if the MBG program is terminated, but how should it be done so that the supervision and standard MBG operating procedure is improved so that it can still provide benefits for its recipients, especially those who trust it.

Although there are a number of cases of suspected poisoning experienced by beneficiaries, Lumanul said, the MBG program has reached up to 20 million school children, pregnant women and other recipients in 38 provinces.

"So, this program not only provides nutritious food, but also moves the wheels of the local economy through employment. It also empowers farmers and fishermen," he said.

According to him, MBG is an important program to help the community, especially the underprivileged.

"So, it is necessary to continue to run with a stricter monitoring system to ensure the quality of food," he said.
