Support For 2 Periods: Jokowi's Anxiety, Gibran And Volunteers Left By Prabowo

JAKARTA The political observer of the Citra Institute, Efriza, said that the statement by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who supported Prabowo-Gibran for two periods was unethical considering that the new government had only been running for one year and the new presidential election was held in 2029.

"Actually, this proposal is very unwise, even unethical, because this government is still not even a year old and with a pile of problems that cannot be resolved," he said, Sunday, September 28, 2025.

According to him, the statement is a hidden message that Prabowo-Gibran's victory in the 2024 presidential election was due to Jokowi's jokes, as well as an effort to increase Jokowi's bargaining position or bargaining position and his volunteers against Prabowo. On the other hand, it also shows that Jokowi is being hit by anxiety because it turns out that Gibran and his volunteers are starting to be abandoned by Prabowo.

"So, this is just a game of political communication, so that Jokowi and his children are still considered to have an influence. He emphasized that statements of support for Prabowo-Gibran for two terms could make the public disappointed, because the public would think that Jokowi was too involved in the Prabowo government, which is currently focusing on improving the welfare of the people.

"This also shows that Jokowi is not good at seeing moments. Jokowi's statement is too premature and the timing is not right because the community is not fully happy with the management of the government carried out by Prabowo-Gibran," said Efriza.
