Condolences to the families of the victims were conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Tamilaga Vetteri Kazhagam (TVK) Party, Vijay, who is also a popular Indian actor, following the tragedy of 36 people who died during a political campaign held in Tamil Nadu, India.

"I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives on the Karur," wrote Vijay in her post on platform X, Sunday, September 28.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday, September 27 when Vijay was giving a speech to thousands of her supporters. However, the atmosphere turned tense.

Quoted from National News, most of the crowding spectators wanted to take a closer look at the stage suddenly storming the barricades. The situation sparked panic and ended with a deadly incident.

Official data records 36 people died, including eight children and 16 women. The large number of victims made this incident one of India's darkest political campaign tragedy in recent years.

MK Stalin, the 8th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed his sadness. "I am very sad and saddened to know that 36 people, including eight children and 16 women, have died so far," he said in a statement also posted on X.
