Peruri Capai Carbon Offset 102 Percent, Commitment To Realize NZE 2060

JAKARTA - Director of Human Resources, Technology, and Information at Perum Peruri, Gandung Anggoro Murdani, revealed that the dominance of green open space in the Karawang production area, West Java, has made the company's carbon offset calculation reach 102 percent.

He emphasized that Peruri continues to take various concrete steps to accelerate the implementation of the sustainability program, in line with the government's target of realizing Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.

"For us, sustainability is not just a slogan, but has become a real action that is carried out in the field," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 27.

In addition to Karawang, Peruri also presents green open spaces in Peruri City Park with the concept of using low-density land (low-rise density) and applying adaptive reuse principles to change the function of the building while maintaining its historical character and original structure.

The area, which is located in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, is a former area of the money printing factory owned by Peruri.

Gandung said that changing the function of the land was one of his efforts to keep the carbon footprint low, thereby strengthening the company's contribution to supporting the national sustainable development agenda, as well as providing a healthy public space for the community.

"Sufficiency is a long-term investment for future generations, and Peruri wants to be an important part of that journey," he said.

In addition to building various green open spaces, he said that the company is also committed to supporting the development of low-carbon industries through the preparation of the Green Peruri Roadmap, business transformation, and digitization.

To enforce the implementation of the roadmap, Gandung said that his party has developed a green dashboard that is able to monitor the use of energy, water consumption, waste management, and greenhouse gas emissions in real-time and integrated.

Furthermore, he said, digitalization was able to cut carbon footprint through reducing paper use and increasing operational efficiency.

The company also uses a clean-tech machine that can suppress carbon emissions in the production chain.

"We are starting the transformation step through digitizing processes, digitizing products, to using environmentally friendly technology machines (low-emission machines)," he concluded.
