LPSK Affirms Commitment To Protect Citizens From Threats Of Criminal Cases
PURWOKERTO - Following the rise of reported cases from the Banyumas area, Central Java, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) affirmed its commitment to provide protection to the community.
Met after the Socialization and Discussion of "The Agencies for the Protection of Witnesses and Victims" in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Saturday afternoon, Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Sri Suparyati said that in the period January to early September 2025, there were 10 Banyumas residents who reported to LPSK.
The report consists of six cases related to money laundering (TPPU), and one each corruption case, a serious human rights violation case, a criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO), and other criminal cases.
Furthermore, at the end of September, there were two new reports, but LPSK could not explain the latest case.
"In principle, LPSK is open, so anyone can access the protection in LPSK. We are very open, please be able to report at any time," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 27.
Therefore, he encouraged all residents in the area not to hesitate to apply for protection in accordance with the laws and regulations.
Responding to public concerns about security guarantees, he said LPSK has a number of protection programs for those who are indicated to have received threats.
"The program includes a safe house, attached escort (physical and in the context of the legal process), changes in identity, reallocation, and temporary residence," he said.
However, he refused to provide specific information about the number and location of safe houses in Indonesia for reasons of confidentiality and security.

Sri said that in order to facilitate reporting access, especially for residents who are facing pressure, LPSK utilizes the Friends of the Victim Witness program as a reporting media.
In addition, he emphasized the important role of village officials as the frontline in helping their citizens access LPSK with a tiered reporting flow.
In this case, village officials can help report cases to the nearest police force, which can then be forwarded to LPSK.
"If indeed village officials know about LPSK protection, then they can accommodate their citizens," said Sri Suparyati.
Meanwhile, member of Commission XIII DPR RI Yanuar Arif Wibowo said that his party took the initiative to bring LPSK services closer to residents in their constituency, namely Banyumas and Cilacap Regencies, considering the many problems that have not been touched by assistance.
"Of course LPSK is here to provide a sense of security to the people of Banyumas and Cilacap that they have the right to be protected," he asserted.
On the other hand, Commission XIII of the DPR RI is also revising the Witness and Victim Protection Law with the aim of providing reinforcement to the institution, expanding cooperation, expanding handling, and expanding the rights of witnesses and victims.
Yanuar hopes that strengthening the position of LPSK will be able to answer the expectations of the community.
