Alwi Farhan Reaches First Super 500 Semifinals At Korea Open 2025
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Alwi Farhan, recorded a historic achievement by breaking into the semifinals of his first BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament at the Korea Open 2025, although it had to stop in the hands of his senior and idol, Jonatan Christie, at Suwon Gymnasium, Saturday.
Alwi gave fierce resistance before losing 21-18, 14-21, 15-21. Despite failing to advance to the final, the 20-year-old considered this match to be an important point in his career journey.
"This match is an important point in my career journey. It's not always smooth, there are many very valuable lessons," said Alwi in an official statement from PP PBSI.
He admitted that he learned a lot from Jonathan, especially in the mental aspect and consistency of the game.

"The first time I feel against seniors and idols. I learned how he can more reverse his mind when he is depressed, more consistently keep his focus, can enjoy the atmosphere and conditions on the ground," he added.
Although the achievement of the first Super 500 semifinal was a matter of pride, Alwi emphasized that he was not satisfied.
"It's quite nice to get to the semifinals of Super 500 for the first time but not satisfied for sure. There are still many targets to be achieved and I will continue to improve myself, improve performance," he said.
Alwi continues to show progress throughout the 2025 season. Previously he also won his first title at the Super 300 Macau Open 2025 level tournament.
