Pantura Authority And Ministry Of Public Works Synchronize Giant Sea Wall

JAKARTA - Head of the Central Java North Coast Development Authority (BOPPUJ) Didit Herdiawan Ashaf revealed that he had coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to discuss plans to build a giant sea embankment or Giant Sea Wall (GSW) along the Javanese Pantura.

Didit explained that the inaugural meeting discussed the synchronization of the development plan and the management of the sea embankment in the future.

"This important meeting is an important step in the plan to accelerate the development of the North coast of Java, integrated, resilient and sustainable," Didit said on his official Instagram account @didit.asaf, quoted Friday, September 26.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti. He explained that this step was an important part of realizing Astacita and the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045.

Diana explained that the construction of the giant sea embankment is important to ensure the resilience of Indonesian territory, especially the island of Java.

"Through the stages of synergistic and collaborative development for regional resilience and the welfare of coastal communities," he said.

To note, Giant Sea Wall is a mega project that requires very large investments. No kidding, the government calculated that the project could cost up to 80 billion US dollars or around Rp. 1,298 trillion.

The construction of giant sea embankments is carried out to overcome the problem of floods that often occur in the North Coast of Java, especially in several areas whose conditions are increasingly concerning, such as the north coast of Jakarta, Semarang and Demak.

With fiscal limitations, the Indonesian government hopes that there will be investment interest from foreign investors in the giant sea embankment project.
