Nearly 8,000 Genesis GV60 Electric Vehicles Recalled Due to Potential Windshield Detachment
JAKARTA - After issuing a massive recall last week for nearly 600,000 vehicles, Hyundai has added another recall. This time, nearly 8,000 units of its premium electric car, the Genesis GV60, model years 2023 to 2025, are being recalled due to a potential problem with the molding on the upper edge of the windshield.
As reported by Electrec on Friday, September 26, Hyundai Motor, through its luxury brand Genesis, is concerned that the molding on the upper edge of the windshield could peel off or even come off completely while the vehicle is in motion.
This recall covers a total of 7,855 Genesis GV60 EVs. Affected owners may hear unusual wind noise or hissing sounds coming from the upper edge of the windshield while driving.
After conducting internal tests, Hyundai determined that the root of the problem was inadequate adhesion from the component supplier.
While no accidents or injuries have been reported, Hyundai is aware of 112 reports of mold detachment incidents that occurred between October 26, 2022, and August 8, 2025.
Although the number of recalled vehicles is nearly 8,000, Hyundai estimates that only 1 percent of those vehicles actually have the defect.
This 7,855 vehicle figure covers nearly all Genesis GV60s sold in the United States from their launch in 2023 through the first half of 2025. Hyundai has also stated that it has fixed the issue in new production.
In the US market, Genesis currently sells only two EV models: the GV60 and the Electrified GV70. This recall presents a minor challenge amid Hyundai and Genesis's efforts to strengthen their positions in the luxury electric vehicle market.
