Jay Idzes Moves To Sassuolo To Stay In Serie A, Venezia Boss: Ambition And Right Price
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team player, Jay Idzes, is currently part of Serie A club, Sassuolo. Behind his decision, the former boss at his old club, Venezia, shared the player's story with ambitions and was considered to benefit the club.
Filippo Antonelli, as General Director of Venezia, said that Idzes' move to Sassuolo was the right decision for the player's personal career as well as the club's advantages.
Idzes first joined Venezia in 2023. In his first year, he became an important player who even succeeded in bringing Venezia to Serie A.
However, last season, Idzes failed to keep Venezia in Italy's highest-level league. Venezia relegated back to Serie B this season.

In the midst of the team's situation that had to go down to the level, Idzes instead received offers from a number of Serie A clubs. He then dropped his heart to defend Sassuolo.
Regarding the decision, Antonelli said that Idzes did have ambitions to continue to stay in Seria A. Idzes' move to Sassuolo was also approved because the money offered by Sassuolo was calculated by Venezia.
"If players want him (to move the club) and his financial situation is right, I'm willing to do it. Both Caviglia and Idzes' Nicolussi (Jay) have expressed a desire to leave."
"I'm not surprised because they have personal ambitions and fame. Idzes has been with us for a long time."
"Sassuolo made a significant offer to us and to him. He wants to play in Serie A," Antonelli was quoted as saying by Venezia Tutto Sports, Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Furthermore, Antonelli admitted that Venezia had tried to detain Idzes. However, in the end Venezia made decisions that benefited all parties.
"I don't know if keeping the player will be worth it. I'm trying to keep the player."
"The decision taken because passion can harm us and the player. So, we accept it on our terms. We fight until the end to get maximum results," said Antonelli.
