In Front Of Students, The Minister Of Industry Wants The Young Generation To Become Industrialists
TANGERANG - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita wants Indonesia's young generation to become industrialists, not just traders.
This was revealed by Agus when closing the dialogue session with students at the Indo 2025 Halal event at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, September 25.
"I do not encourage you to become traders, note this. I encourage you to be industrialist. Because the added value of our nation is in the industry, the added value of our nation creates extraordinary added value to the economy," said Agus.
Agus emphasized the importance of the younger generation mastering digital literacy and skills to become pioneers, not followers.
"Be a trendsetter, don't be a follower. Create a halal, modern and sustainable lifestyle trend," he said.
He also encouraged the younger generation to aspire to become industrialists in building Indonesia. Agus highlighted that the great potential with 53.8 percent of Indonesia's population is the millennial generation and gen Z.
"With this population composition, you students, the younger generation must be able to maximize your contribution to economic and industrial development," said Agus.

It didn't stop there, Agus also invited the younger generation to care about the issue of sustainability and product selection based on the values they had to maintain.
"The trends are green products, green industries and also industries or halal products. You can become a driving force for halal lifestyle in the fashion, cosmetics and food or drinks sector," he explained.
According to him, with the composition of the population dominated by productive age, Indonesia has a potential demographic bonus to drive national economic growth, including the halal industry.
"We are very open to supporting, guarding and fostering because it is part of our task," explained Agus.
