KPAI Asks Police To Investigate The Cause Of MTs Students In East Jakarta Hanging Himself

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) asked the police to immediately reveal the cause of the case of a Tsanawiyah Madrasah (MTs) student who ended her life at her home in Cipayung, East Jakarta (Jaktim).

"KPAI hopes that the investigation process will run quickly, involving related parties, such as the Department of Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP), psychologists, social workers, and other related parties, so that speculation about the cause of the victim's fatal actions can be revealed, so that it can be a preventive measure in the future," said KPAI member Aris Adi Leksono when contacted in Jakarta, Thursday, confiscated by Antara.

KPAI has met the victim's homeroom teacher, counseling teacher (BK), and the victim's classmate, to explore allegations of bullying experienced by the victim during his life.

"As a result, they said that child victims who are active, mature, independent, even if there are things that violate class rules, the victim is actively reminding other friends to be orderly and disciplined," said Aris.

He added that a close friend of the victim said that the victim had complained of illness to him.

"There was a circulation of the victim's last message to a close friend regarding the condition of the victim's illness complaint, we confirm that the message is true," said Aris.

The school handed over the investigation of this case to the police.

"The school agreed that the investigation was submitted to the authorities, and is ready to support the investigation process," said Aris.

Previously, a MTs student was found dead hanging herself at her home in Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Monday 15 September.

Cipayung Police are still investigating the cause of this case by examining a number of witnesses.
