Pramono Anung Furious Because of Red-Plated Vehicles Entering Trans Jakarta Lanes
JAKARTA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that no vehicles other than Transjakarta buses and emergency vehicles are allowed to use the dedicated Transjakarta lane. This statement was made following a flurry of netizen posts showing state-owned vehicles entering the busway lane.
Pramono stated that drivers who break into Transjakarta lanes to avoid traffic jams will face social sanctions from the community.
"This will definitely be bullied by the public. We're in the digital era, so it's very easy for people to find out. I pray that those using state-owned vehicles will be caught," Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, September 25.
According to Article 287 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, anyone driving a motorized vehicle who violates traffic signs or regulations can be subject to a maximum imprisonment of two months or a maximum fine of IDR 500,000.
Pramono emphasized that this regulation applies to all vehicles, including official or government vehicles.
"If I had known, I would have told them to stop. Nowadays, people can't just use sirens go 'tot-tat-tot-tot' and then proceed to drive in the busway lane," he said.
Recently, a video circulated A video on social media showed two state-owned vehicles crossing the Transjakarta Corridor 13 lane on Wednesday morning. The video drew widespread criticism from netizens.
