YouTube Presents The Capability To Hide Pop-up Screens At The End Of Video
JAKARTA - YouTube is rolling out a new 'hide' button for end screens that usually appear at the end of the video, which usually appears as a pop-up next video suggestion.
The 'hide' button can be found in the upper right corner of the video player, but it only applies to the video being watched. If you want to return it, the user simply presses the "Show" button.
Additionally, for the desktop version, YouTube announced it had removed the Subscribe button that appeared when the cursor was directed to the watermark channel on the video.
In its official announcement on the Google aid page, the tech giant assessed that this additional button was no longer needed because the Subscribe button was already available under the video player.
"Because there is already a Subscription button just below the video player, we removed this additional subscription button to simplify and improve the viewing experience," Google wrote.
YouTube insists that this change will not affect creators in adding end screens or watermarks to their content.

Based on global trials conducted from March 'July 2025, users option to hide the final screen results in a display drop from the final screen of less than 1.5%.
Meanwhile, channel subscription contributions from the hover-to-subscribe function are relatively small, which is about 0.05% of the total.
YouTube says this update was born from community inputs that want less disruption while watching, so viewers can focus more on the main content.
