East Jakarta Health Sub-dept. Responds To News Of 6 Students Of SDN 07 Vomiting After Eating MBG

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Region I Education Office (Jaktim) confirmed the incident of six students of SDN 07 Pulogebang, Cakung, who experienced vomiting after eating the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program on Wednesday (24/9) afternoon, not due to poisoning.

"If the poisoning is usually affected by at least half of the number of children who eat. This is not a case of poisoning like the one that is currently viral," said Head of the East Jakarta Regional I Education Sub-Department M. Fahmi, ANTARA, Thursday, September 25.

Fahmi said the incident occurred at around 13.00 WIB during lunch for the second shift. At that time, about 150 students ate together, but only six grade 2 elementary school students experienced vomiting.

The MBG menu presented is exactly the same as the one given to the morning shift students. In the morning session, none of the students suffered any complaints.

The MBG menu at SDN 07 Pulogebang was sent in two different times, the morning session was sent at 07.30 WIB and eaten at 09.00 WIB. While the afternoon session was sent at 12.00 WIB, and eaten at 13.00 WIB.

"Even though they eat the same type of food, everything is the same. So, there are five groups studying, approximately 150 people. The affected are six students, the symptoms are mild, nausea continues to vomit," said Fahmi.

It is suspected that the symptoms that arise were triggered by the smell of boiled cabbage which had been stored for several hours since the morning food arrived.

The Pulogebang Health Center, which received the report, immediately went to the school to provide first aid.

After receiving the initial medication and examination, all students who vomited immediately recovered. There is nothing to refer to the hospital for.

"They quickly recovered after being treated. No one was taken to the puskesmas. Because the doctor had come there. No one was fatal. So I made sure earlier for further examination but after handling it by the puskesmas, I was able to return home," explained Fahmi.

Fahmi emphasized that the MBG program has so far been running safely in East Jakarta, and this kind of case is the first time this has happened.

Fahmi hopes that the public will not immediately conclude that the program is dangerous.

"This program is good and useful. Even if there are cases like this, it is incidental. We still support the MBG program running," said Fahmi.
