COVID-19 Update As Of May 16: 3,080 New Cases From Examination Of 37,473 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) released additional positive cases of the latest COVID-19 as of today. A total of 37,473 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 3,080 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was found in Indonesia reached 1,739,750 people and active cases of 90,800 cases," as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Sunday, May 16.

Cases recovered today increased by 3,790 cases, bringing the total to 1,600,857 people cured. Then, the number of positive confirmation cases that died increased by 126 people and a total of 48,093 people.

The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 792 cases and a total of 297,304 cases. Followed by Riau which has 355 new cases with a total of 51,673 cases. Central Java has 346 new cases and a total of 189,950 cases. Then, Riau Islands has 222 new cases and a total of 13,421 cases.

The province with the most cured cases today belongs to Riau with an increase of 566 cured cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 442 cases cured, Central Java with an increase of 399 cases recovered, and DKI Jakarta with an increase of 293 cases recovered.

Seven provinces reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 15,507,034.

"The positive result per number of specimens examined or positivity rate this week was 18.86 percent," he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspek cases, it is recorded at 81,809 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, there are currently 13,737,596 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 8,970,715 second dose vaccinations. Meanwhile, the total vaccination target of phase 1 and 2 reached 40,349,049 people.
