Riots At The End Of August 2025, The National Police Set 959 Suspects Including 295 Children
JAKARTA - The National Police have determined 959 related to riots that occurred in several parts of Indonesia from August 25 to 31, 2025. Of the hundreds of people, 295 of them are still children.
"The National Police has handled a total of 959 suspects. With each 664 adult suspects and 295 children," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Syahardiantono, to reporters, Wednesday, September 24.
Hundreds of people named as suspects were not mass demonstrations. They are the ones who riot, such as destroying public facilities, attacking officers, and looting.
Especially for the suspect, who is a child, Syahar detailed that 68 of them were not processed by law and were resolved by diversion. Then, 52 children whose case files have been carried out in stage two to the prosecutor's office.
"Then 6 children with P21 files are said to be complete and 190 children, the file is still in stage 1 of the filing process," he said.

The hundreds of suspects were charged with different articles, namely Article 160, Article 161 of the Criminal Code concerning incitement, Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning joint destruction, Article 187 of the Criminal Code concerning arson, Article 212, Article 213, Article 214 of the Criminal Code concerning fighting officers authorized with violence.
Then, Article 351 concerning persecution, Article 362, Article 363, Article 366 theft and theft with violence, Article 406 of the destruction of goods.
Then, Emergency Law number 12 concerning possession of sharp weapons. The application of this article is because many of them use Molotv to commit anarchic acts.
"There are Molotov cocktails and petamentants used for anarchic acts," said Syahar.
