Warung Pocong Actress Shareefa Daanish And Arla Ailani Firmly Reject Black Magic

JAKARTA - The film Warung Pocong depicts a mystical story familiar to Indonesians: pesugihan (forbidden wealth-seeking ritual). But what are the actors' views on the practice of seeking wealth through supernatural pacts?

In a conversation with two of the actors in Warung Pocong, Shareefa Daanish and Arla Ailani, a strong common thread emerged: they both believe that wealth should come from hard work, not from instant means, especially those involving the supernatural.

Both Shareefa and Arla admitted to being familiar with the term pesugihan, but both expressed skepticism.

Shareefa described pesugihan as "a pact with supernatural beings to gain wealth quickly," but admitted to having never witnessed it firsthand.

"Believe it or not, because I've heard about it, but I've never seen it in person," said Shareefa, as quoted by VOI in a media release on Tuesday, September 23.

Similarly, Arla said that when she hears the word "pesugihan," she immediately imagines "a dark room filled with smoke and someone reciting a mantra."

Although she has heard mystical stories, Arla has never encountered concrete evidence of such practices around her. "Maybe they exist, but I don't believe it," she said confidently.

Rather than believing in pesugihan, both of them prefer to believe in moral principles, hard work, and spiritual beliefs. Arla, for example, experienced difficult times during the pandemic.

Having just graduated from high school, her family, who are involved in the arts, lost many jobs. However, she believes that good fortune will always come as long as she doesn't give up and maintains a positive mindset.

Meanwhile, Shareefa recalled her college years as full of struggles, especially when she had to pay for her own tuition. Fortunately, her savings from modeling covered her expenses.

"I never do anything strange to get quick money," she explained. "Personally, I try not to borrow money. If I have to, it's a last resort."

Both of them flatly reject instant ways to make money. Whether it's black magic, reckless debt, or actions that harm others, none of these are considered lifestyle choices that align with their values.

Arla stated that she grew up with strong moral values instilled in her family. She believes that earning money should be done in a halal way and should not harm anyone.

Shareefa also emphasized the importance of adjusting your lifestyle to your financial capabilities, especially during difficult times.

"Believe and believe that you are strong. Adjust your lifestyle to your capabilities," she advised those facing financial challenges.

Despite starring in a horror film that touches on the theme of black magic, Shareefa and Arla demonstrate that the reality of life is far from mystical.

For them, there are no shortcuts to success, only hard work, patience, and faith in the blessings that come from the right direction.

"To all those struggling, never give up. Give your maximum energy to what you do," Arla concluded.

For Shareefa and Arla, life hasn't always been smooth sailing. They've been in desperate situations, from having to pay for college out of pocket to the pandemic, and suddenly losing all their jobs. But amidst these pressures, they've never resorted to quick ways to make money.
