Queen Charlotte Becomes Central Figure In Bridgerton Series Spin-off

JAKARTA - Netflix's original series Bridgerton will export the story by presenting a spin-off about Queen Charlotte.

Launching Variety today, May 16, the spin-off series tells the story of young Queen Charlotte with Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury. The script will be written by Shonda Rhimes of Shondaland.

Previously, the first season of Bridgerton received such huge popularity that Netflix announced three additional seasons as a continuation of the story.

Jess Brownell also became showrunner for Bridgerton's third and fourth seasons after Chris Van Dusen worked on the second season.

"Many viewers didn't know queen Charlotte's story before Bridgerton brought her into the world, and I'm glad the series will explore her story and bridgerton's world," Netflix's Bela Bajaria said.

The Bridgerton series is adapted from a novel by Julia Quinn that chronicles the competitive life of London. The search for a soul mate, family, and family legacy is at the center of the series' story.

Bridgerton's second season follows the search for a life partner for the Bridgerton family's eldest son, Anthony (played by Jonathan Bailey).
