DKI Provincial Government Presses The Price Of Red Chili In Jakarta Which Is Getting More Spicy
JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Service (DKPKP) Hasudungan Sidabalok explained the steps taken by the DKI Provincial Government to reduce the increase in food commodity prices.
In recent times, it has been observed that a number of food prices have increased, ranging from red chilies, chicken eggs, to meat.
Hasudungan revealed that his party is currently carrying out routine monitoring related to price development and food availability in both traditional and modern retail markets as a form of early warning system.
"Implementing the Mobile Food Movement by BUMD Jakarta which provides strategic foodstuffs such as rice, broiler meat, broiler eggs, beef, chilies, shallots, sugar and cooking oil as well as other foodstuffs at prices according to HET and below market prices," Hasudungan told reporters, Wednesday, September 24.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is still carrying out cheap food packages with food packages for rice, chicken meat, chicken eggs, beef, bloating fish and UHT milk with a purchase price of only Rp126,000 per package.
"Administrative development of urban agricultural technology is also carried out in limited land to grow vegetables, chilies and shallots," he said.
It is known that the price of red chili commodities in Jakarta has increased in the third week of September 2025.
In monitoring the DKI Provincial Government, the price of curly red chili rose 12.68 percent, red cayenne pepper 5.54 percent, and red chili TW rose 4.20 percent.
Hasudungan explained that the cause of the increase in the price of red chilies, which is a holticulture commodity, is the depletion of stocks from recent harvests.
"There was a decrease in supply between weeks into DKI Jakarta Province due to production disruptions caused by high rainfall in the production area, so that the harvest quickly rots," said Hasudungan, Tuesday, September 23.
Not only that, Hasudungan admitted that there were other food commodities that experienced price increases, although not as significant as red chilies, namely livestock and rice commodities.
"The increase in the price of broiler eggs and broiler meat is caused by an increase in feed prices as a result of increasing demand during the long holiday for the celebration of the Prophet's Birthday," explained Hasudungan.

Meanwhile, the increase in premium rice prices was due to rice distribution activities which were still in the process of recovering, following the case of mixed rice that dragged PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya.
"However, premium rice according to the highest retail price (HET) since early September 2025 has started to be available in modern retail," he added.
