Building A Friendship, Chicco Kurniawan Shares Challenges Of Acting with Lutesha In The Film Rest Area
JAKARTA - Actor Chicco Kurniawan shared his experience acting alongside Lutesha in the film "Rest Area," produced by Mahakarya Pictures, which will be released on October 2nd.
He admitted that the dynamics of their real-life friendship are very different from the characters they play in the film, requiring both of them to explore their roles more deeply.
"Actually, especially for me and Ute (Lutesha), the dynamic we have as friends is never as volatile as Teo and Zizi. So when we did it, it was like, Teo was cursing me. But it was actually difficult to get to that point," said Chicco Kurniawan at the Rest Area press conference in South Jakarta on Tuesday, September 23rd.
According to Chicco, the emotional scenes he played with Lutesha had deeper meaning because they were closely related to the characters he was developing.
"But yeah, the point of anger is really to cover up, so it goes back to the character, I mean. The point of anger is really to cover up Teo's many insecurities," he continued.
Although they already know each other well, Chicco admitted that there were challenges when they had to play together.
"Actually, it's little bit complicated to play with someone you're already close to," Chicco said.
However, he believes that closeness also provides advantages because it allows for more freedom to build chemistry.
"But for me, it's also because of Ute, so Ute is at least here out of all of them, but because I do a lot of tapping, and there are a lot of scenes where we're alone during filming, we often talk to Ute. Ute is quite focused, I mean, really focused," Chicco explained.
Chicco also added that he felt comfortable working with Lutesha, who is very focused on getting into her role.
"So, I ended up thinking, 'Oh, never mind, never mind, the unpleasant things will come later,'" he concluded.
The film "Rest Area" essentially tells the story of five wealthy individuals trapped at a remote rest area during their nighttime journey.
What was supposed to be a simple stopover turns into a nightmare when they are attacked by the Kresek Ghost, a wandering spirit with a face covered in black plastic, seeking revenge for past sins.
One by one, they begin to lose control, terrorized relentlessly in every dark corner. The dark secrets they've been hiding are slowly revealed.
In addition to Chicco Kurniawan and Lutesha, the film "Rest Area" will also star Julian Jacob, Ajil Ditto, Lania Fira, and Afrian Arisandy.
