Police Arrest Student During Labor Day Demo Sued 2 Months 10 Days
Two students who arrested police officers during the Labor Day demonstration in Semarang which ended in chaos in May 2025 were sentenced to 2 months and 10 days.
The Public Prosecutor of the Semarang District Attorney's Office, Ardhika Wisnu, in a trial at the Semarang District Court, stated that the defendants Rezki Setia Budi and Muhammad Rafli Susanto were found guilty of violating Article 333 paragraph 1 regarding seizing someone's independence.
"The defendant's actions are troubling the public," said the public prosecutor in his consideration.
However, he continued, the defendants regretted his actions and were still young.
"The defendants still have the opportunity to improve themselves, the defendants are still pursuing higher education as the successors of the nation's generation," he added.
For these demands, Chief Judge Rudy Ruswoyo gave the two defendants the opportunity to present their defense at the upcoming trial.
Previously, the action to commemorate Labor Day on May 1, 2025 in front of the Central Java Governor's Office in Semarang ended in chaos.
