Korea Open 2025: Fajar/Fikri Silence Malaysia's Representative

JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri stopped Malaysian representatives, Nur Mohd Ayub Azriyn/Tan Wee Kiong, from qualifying for the second round of the Korea Open 2025.

The pair who won the China Open 2025 won two straight games 21-18 and 21-12 in 30 minutes at Suwon Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah, we can win even though we are not in the best form. Quite different field conditions and shuttlecock compared to Shenzhen (China Masters 2025) last week," said Fajar.

A tough test will be met by Fajar/Fikri in the second round later. They will be challenged by Japanese men's doubles, Kenya Mitsuhashi/Hiroki Okamura.

Kenya/Hiroki secured a ticket to the second half after successfully repatriating the second seed from China, Liang Wei Kencang/Wang Chang, in a dramatic three-game match.

"The next day we met a Japanese couple. They just beat Liang Wei Kehitong/Wang Chang, definitely believes he is growing," said Fikri.

Fajar/Fikri are one of two Indonesian representatives who managed to secure tickets for the second half today. They followed in the footsteps of Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Unfortunately, the journey of the two representatives failed to be followed by Muhammad Rian Ardianto / Yeremia Rambitan. This pair ran aground in the first round against Takuro Hoki / Yugo Kobayashi (Japan).

Indonesian men's doubles can still add tickets to the second half if Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana can win against deputy host Lee Jongmin/Wang Chan on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
