IPhone 2027 Will Be Shocked: Super Thin, Bright, And No Bezel Screens

JAKARTA - According to the latest industry reports, Apple plans to bring a thinner, brighter, and more power-efficient screen for the iPhone in the 20th anniversary of 2027. The screen is also claimed to increase battery life.

This new screen is a development of the OLED technology that Apple and other companies have developed for at least three years. This technology removes the polarization layer of OLED, which currently functions to prevent the escape of light on the screen.

According to ET News, this new design uses Color Filter on Encapsulation (COE) technology. This filter reduces light reflection and eliminates the need for a polarization layer. As a result, screens with COE will be thinner and brighter. The polarization layer on OLED currently tends to dim the screen, thus requiring more battery power to offset it.

With this technology, the new iPhone screen will be thinner, brighter, and consume less power. Previously, Apple reportedly researched this technology for the iPhone Fold, but recent reports say that COE technology will be applied to non-folding iPhones.

"An unnamed industry official said, 'Apple plans to apply COE to bar-type smartphones by 2027 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone launch,'" the report said.

However, the same source claims that Apple will not be the first to use this screen technology. The source appears to be from Samsung, as they stated, "We are trying to apply this new technology to high-end models to confirm that Samsung implemented it before Apple."

Samsung has used COE on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 which was released in 2021. The company is also rumored to be expanding its use of COE on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to release in early 2026.

Previously, there were reports that the iPhone Fold would use Samsung's thin screen. However, the report states that the technology is a new type that has not been used by Samsung itself.
