Husband Of Burner Wife And In-law In Cakung Arrested During Consumption Of Drugs In Bathroom

The East Jakarta Metro Police revealed new facts related to the burning of a rented house and his wife, the perpetrator with the initials MA (29) on Jalan Borobudur, Cakung District, East Jakarta, on Thursday (18/9). The police found the perpetrator was taking drugs during his arrest.

The Head of Women and Children Protection (PPA) of the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Sri Yatmini, explained that the suspect was arrested in the bathroom while consuming narcotics.

"That's right, when the arrest was made, the person concerned was consuming narcotics in the bathroom," said Sri, Tuesday (23/9).

Incident Chronology

Sri said the incident began when the Supreme Court asked his wife, SNC (31), to make instant noodles. However, the victim did not respond to the request. The perpetrator then got angry until there was a fight. SNC tried to save himself by running into his mother's room, M (50).

In emotional conditions, the perpetrator carried a tiner liquid in a plastic bottle. The liquid was poured into his wife's face, hair, chest, and neck.

"After pouring the tiner, the suspect sparked a lighter until the victim's face and body caught fire," explained Sri.

SNC suffered serious burns and was treated intensively at the Pondok Kopi area hospital. However, his life could not be saved and died on Sunday (21/9) at 07.30 WIB. The body was then taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the victim's mother, M, was also abused and experienced bruises on her face, swollen eyes, and bruises all over her body due to being hit and trampled on by the perpetrator. He is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Efforts to catch

Instead of providing help, the perpetrators fled and hid in the bushes around the location. The police managed to arrest him on Saturday (20/9) night at around 19.30 WIB, with the help of the Cakung Police.

Legal Aspects

Sri added that this case was not only related to domestic violence (KDRT) which led to death, but also narcotics abuse. "Because we at PPA are lex specialis, narcotics cases will be handled directly by the Narcotics Unit. We have coordinated with colleagues there," he said.

For his actions, the Supreme Court was charged with multiple articles, namely:

Article 44 paragraphs (2) and (3) of the PKDRT Law,

Article 340 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder,

Articles 351 paragraphs (2) and (3) of the Criminal Code concerning severe persecution.

The threat of punishment is in the form of death penalty, life imprisonment, or a minimum of 20 years in prison. The police ensure that they will continue to coordinate with the prosecutor's office to continue the legal process until the trial stage.
