Hit By Persib's Comeback At Home, Arema's Player Regrets

JAKARTA - Arema FC failed to get full points when they hosted Persib Bandung in the sixth week of the 2025/2026 Super League. The visitors won through the final goal in the second half. Regarding the final result, the Singo Edan players and coaches expressed regret.

The two teams met at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, on Monday, September 22, 2025, afternoon WIB. Arema as the host actually took the lead over Persib thanks to Matheus Blade' goal in the 12th minute.

However, the visitors came back in the second half. Utiam Barros scored the equalizer in the 59th minute. When the game seemed to end in a 1-1 draw, Federico Barba broke into Singo Edan's goal in the third minute of injury time.

Arema FC's defeat was also overwhelming because Persib won with 10 players from the 64th minute after Frans Putros got a red card.

"I regret this defeat. We cannot present a victory for Aremania," said Arema coach Marcos Santos as quoted by Antara on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

"After the red card, Persib tends to wait. Dedik was added so that we could penetrate it more, but in the last minute we conceded from a corner kick," he said.

In line with the coach, Odivan Koerich also considered the defeat this time quite regrettable because he and his colleagues could not maintain the concentration of the game at home.

"Persib's two goals were due to our lack of focus. This is very unfortunate. We will make improvements so that Arema can be better in the future," said Odivan.

The defeat to Persib made Arema unable to present points. This makes Singo Edan still stuck in the middle board, to be precise in eighth place with eight points.
