Kirana Larasati Admits She Has No Motivation For Miss Universe Pageant, Motivated After Being Asked By Son

JAKARTA - Celebrity Kirana Larasati has been named the oldest contestant in the Miss Universe Indonesia 2025 beauty pageant. Despite this, Kirana firmly admits she isn't insecure about her age or the age of the other contestants.

"I don't feel inferior about my age at all. In fact, I'm fine with it. Maybe since I turned 30 and then passed 30, I didn't feel like I was getting older; life just stayed the same. So, really, I'm just like everyone else," said Kirana Larasati in South Jakarta on Monday, September 22.

For Kirana, age is no barrier to trying new things and creating creative work. She emphasized that every woman has her own talents, regardless of age.

"But when it comes to numbers, the difference is huge. But honestly, I feel like we're all the same, we're mature women, we have aspirations and advocacy," Kirana Larasati continued.

Furthermore, Kirana recounted how she decided to participate in this popular beauty pageant in Indonesia. She admitted that at first, she wasn't ambitious about participating in this program.

"It was offered to me by Ken. Ken's a friend of mine. At first, I thought he was joking, so I really laughed on the phone. But he said, 'No, this is serious, and there are no age restrictions, and there are no status restrictions.' Then I thought, 'Why not?' I'll just give it a try," Kirana Larasati explained.

Until finally, one of her children asked her a question that motivated her to take this beauty program seriously.

"I didn't have a goal at first. But then my child, my own child, would ask, 'If you win, will you get the crown? If you can do this, will you win?' That made me more serious, because those questions made me serious," she concluded.
