Erick Thohir Remains Chairman Of PSSI After Receiving A Letter From FIFA

JAKARTA - Erick Thohir, who is now the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) of the Republic of Indonesia, will also remain the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI. This follows a letter from FIFA received on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Based on the letter, Erick Thohir explained that the position of concurrent positions between the General Chairperson of PSSI and his new government position was held.

"This morning I got a FIFA letter, which stated in a Statute with my track record that has been around all this time in football, there is no conflict of interest."

"So, I am clean and clear. Well, of course as Menpora I maintain that balance," said Erick Thohir in an official statement quoted on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Erick kemudian juga menjelaskan tentang kekhawatiran yang akan muncul jika nantinya sepak bola yang akan menjadi anak golnya.

"It's impossible for me as Menpora, his golden son of football, no. My gold boy will be the leading sport of 13 or 14 branches. Of course, other sports, we will rearrange."

"I would like to thank FIFA, for its trust, and the President too. During the inauguration, the President also spoke to me directly that he believed I could do everything well. At that time, I didn't want to talk before there was black and white," he said.

With a letter from FIFA, Erick Thohir is still trusted to be the number one person in the Indonesian football federation until 2027.
