President Prabowo Affirms Indonesia's Commitment To Solutions To Two Countries And Ends Gaza Tragedy

JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, attended the International Summit for the Settlement of Palestinian Peace and the Implementation of the Two-National Solutions at the UN General Assembly, New York, Monday.

The forum, which is led by France and Saudi Arabia, brings together 33 countries and international organizations, with Indonesia present as a member of the core group that oversees the peace process.

In his speech, President Prabowo expressed deep concern over the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. He emphasized that thousands of innocent lives had been lost and called for an end to violence against civilians.

The President emphasized Indonesia's consistency in supporting the two-state solution as the only way to peace. "Therefore, Indonesia reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution to the Palestinian problem. Only this two-state solution will bring peace," he stressed.

"We must guarantee the state of Palestine, but Indonesia also states that after Israel recognizes the independence and state of Palestine, Indonesia will soon recognize the State of Israel and we will support all Israel's security guarantees," he continued.

The President also emphasized support for the New York Declaration which is considered to provide a just peaceful path. The President appreciates the countries that have recognized Palestine, including France, Canada, Australia, Britain and Portugal. "The recognition of the Palestinian State is the right step on the right side of history. For those who have not acted, we say history does not stop," he said.

Furthermore, the President emphasized that the cessation of war in Gaza should be a top priority in the international community. Indonesia is ready to actively contribute, including by sending peacekeeping troops under the mandate of the United Nations.

"We must overcome hatred, fear. We must address suspicions. We must achieve the peace that mankind needs. We are ready to take part in this journey towards peace. We are willing to provide peacekeepers," the President said.
