BMW's Largest Electric SUV Starts Trial In Germany
JAKARTA - BMW is preparing to enter into intense competition in the three-line premium electric SUV segment. Recently, a prototype of their largest electric SUV, most likely to be called BMW iX7, was caught on camera while being tested in Germany. This vehicle is believed to be an electric version of the next-generation BMW X7.
Quoted from CarBuzz, Tuesday, September 23, BMW iX7 is seen using the body of the latest generation X7, which means this SUV will be built on the advanced modular platform "Neue Classe." This platform was first introduced in BMW iX3 2026 and is known for its advanced technology that prioritizes efficiency and performance.
With a large and dashing proportion, iX7 is predicted to offer a very relieved cabin space with seating configurations for six or seven passengers, making it a direct competitor to Volvo EX90, Lucid Gravity, and Rivian R1S.
Although the size is large, iX7 is not expected to weigh as much rivals as Cadillac Escalade iQ, which means the weight will be more controlled.

One of the most prominent things about iX7 is the technology it carries. Seen clearly from the spy photo, this vehicle will be equipped with the latest iDrive X infotainment system from BMW. The system will feature a wide screen extending from pillar to pillar (pillar-to-pillar), providing important information to the driver in one lyric. The 17.9-inch central touch screen we've seen on iX3 is also expected to be present on iX7.
Although specific details about iX7 are still minimal, it is permissible to assume its performance will be very impressive. Given that BMW's sixth generation battery technology which is capable of reaching a distance of up to 643 km (400 miles) in iX3, iX7 is also expected to have a similar distance.
For the performance variant, it is possible that iX7 will produce up to 800 hp of power or more. The 800 volt electricity system on the Neue Classe platform also allows fast charging of up to 400 kilowatts (kW), ensuring very fast battery recharge when connected to compatible DC chargers.
BMW iX7 is predicted to debut in pre-production next year and will probably go on sale as a 2027 model.
