Funds For The 2025 Thailand SEA Games Are Only IDR 10 Billion
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, ensured that currently the budget to dispatch the Indonesian contingent to face the 2025 SEA Games was only available at IDR 10 billion.
This assurance was conveyed by Erick after holding a meeting with the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Monday, September 22, 2025.
"The current funding available is only Rp. 10 billion. It means that we can only send 120 athletes," the former SOE Minister told the media after the meeting.
This figure is still far from Indonesia's previous experience when sending the contingent to the biennial multi-branch sporting event, which ranged from Rp45 billion to Rp60 billion.

Erick turned off that his party would try to communicate with other relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Finance, so that Indonesia's achievements at the SEA Games did not decline.
"We have the same feeling as stated by the President that sports are the nation's ambassadors."
"So, how do we have to create our superiority, that's what we're trying," he said.
In the previous edition at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games, the Indonesian contingent brought home 87 gold medals. However, it is certain that this figure will not be maintained at the 2025 SEA Games.
Realistically, Indonesia will only hunt down 46 gold medals this year. This will automatically reduce Indonesia's ranking in the final standings for medals.
At the time in Cambodia, the Indonesian contingent took third place in the final standings. However, with the best target, Indonesia is expected to only fill fifth or sixth positions.
The 2025 SEA Games will take place on 9-20 December 2025. This two-year multi-branch sporting event will be held in three major cities, namely Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
This year, the host will complete a total of 50 sports and 574 match numbers. It is estimated that more than 12 thousand athletes will participate in sports events involving countries in the Southeast Asian region.
