Remind DKI Provincial Government To Solve RDF Rorotan's Bau Problem, PSI: The Price Is Expensive, From People's Taxes

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung plans to inaugurate the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant Rorotan, North Jakarta at the end of this month.

Ahead of its operation, member of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Bun Joi Phiau, asked the provincial government to ensure that the odor mitigation equipment in the waste processing facility function optimally so as not to disturb local residents.

"Again, we want to remind that the operation of the Rorotan RDF, which is planned to be inaugurated in the near future, should not disturb the comfort of residents," said Bun in his statement, Monday, September 22.

Bun mentioned the investment value of the facility. He reminded that RDF equipment is expensive using public tax money and has international standard specifications. Therefore, he hopes that all equipment can be used according to its objectives.

"The tools installed in the Rorotan RDF are expensive and purchased using public tax money. So, when it is installed, it must be able to function as much as possible to eliminate the smell of garbage that used to spread to the surrounding environment," said Bun.

Bun reminded residents that they are still worried about the potential for a smell of garbage that can come out of RDF even though the Provincial Government through the Environment Agency (DLH) has repeatedly ensured the safety of facilities.

Therefore, the member of Commission D of the DKI DPRD asked for guarantees that the odor control equipment really works optimally.

"The DKI Provincial Government, especially through DLH, needs to ensure that the tools installed to remove unpleasant odors and prevent them from leaving residential areas can function optimally," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded that residents were still worried about the potential smell of garbage that was still smelled when RDF Plant Rorotan, North Jakarta, was operated in the future.

To reduce concerns from local residents, Pramono promised to invite them to review the RDF location to ensure pollution no longer occurs before it is finally inaugurated.

"I have asked those who operate, when operated, will invite residents to see firsthand. Because now improvements have been made," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 12.

Residents, continued Pramono, are welcome to see the condition of RDF Rorotan at the commissioning stage or testing the installation of waste processing facilities into alternative fuels.

Pramono ensured that emission control facilities such as filter bag equipment, wet electrostatic precipitator (WESP), pre-treatment WESP (second wet scrub), carbon activity, second ID-fan, and CEMS were installed when commissioning was carried out.

"I asked before the commissioning, yes, residents were invited to see. That what we promised, we have fulfilled it. Even including installing indicators for later smell and so on, I have asked for everything to be installed," said Pramono.
