State Budget Deficit Reaches 1.35 Percent As Of August 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) noted that the deficit in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) until August 2025 was 1.35 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), or equivalent to IDR 321.6 trillion.

This deficit shows an increase compared to the position in June 2025 which was recorded at 0.84 percent of GDP.

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive explained that the increase in the deficit was due to the high realization of state spending which exceeded state revenue during that period.

He conveyed that until August 2025, state revenue was recorded at IDR 1,638.7 trillion or 57.2 percent of the target in the outlook of IDR 2,865.5 trillion.

This realization has decreased compared to the achievement in the same period the previous year, which was IDR 1,777.3 trillion.

On the other hand, state spending has reached Rp1,960.3 trillion, or about 55.6 percent of the outlook of Rp3,527.5 trillion. This realization increased when compared to the same period last year which amounted to Rp1,930.7 trillion.

Purbaya added that the government will continue to accelerate state spending until the end of the year in order to achieve the target set in budget planning.

"There are still expenditures that will be accelerated again so that the primary balance is in accordance with the design of our time to make a budget for 2025," said Purbaya at the Press Conference of our State Budget, Monday, September 22.

He conveyed that with this development, the primary balance was recorded at IDR 22 trillion.
