Deputy Minister Of Communication And Trade Nezar Affirms The Important Role Of AI In Fixing Problems

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can increase the effectiveness of implementing national priority programs and solving various national problems.

"To solve the stunting problem, solve nutrition problems, solve how the people's economy can grow through business processes in cooperatives, for example, and so on," said Nezar in his official broadcast quoted Monday, September 22.

In this regard, he reiterated the importance of AI Talent Factory in preparing young Indonesians not only to be able to become users, but also to become AI technology developers.

According to him, Indonesia needs at least 9 million digital talents for the next five years, or around 2030.

"We need around 9 million more talents, and we also have to think about not talent that is just a user, but talent that can enter as a developer as well as a developer," he said.

Nezar also said that Indonesia is a country rich in language and culture so that AI developers in Indonesia are expected to be able to create various AI applications that are adapted to local culture.

Through this local AI application, it is hoped that AI technology can be used by all Indonesian people who have diverse languages and cultures.

"It would be very good if we, for example, for the genrative AI LLM or Large Language Model, we can make our own use of our own language. Our regional languages are quite rich, our ethnicities are quite a lot, our cultural diversity is also extraordinary," he said.
