Targeting Premium EV Market, GAC Group Collaborates With Huawei

JAKARTA - Competition in the electric car market is getting hotter. GAC Group took a strategic step by introducing the latest brand in collaboration with Huawei

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Monday, September 22, named Qijing, this new brand targets the premium electric vehicle market, as well as boosting sales, especially in the local Chinese market.

Huawei itself is not a new face in China's automotive world, and even the tech giant has partnered with domestic car manufacturers through the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business unit to create five brands, Shangjie owned by SAIC Motor, Aito owned by Seres Group, Luxeed owned by Chery, Stelato owned by BAIC Group, and Maextro owned by Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).

GAC has set up an independent company to operate the Qijing brand, while Huawei has sent its best talent to participate in the project.

"GAC will prioritize Qijing as its main initiative, deploying its best resources to ensure long-term brand development," GAC said in a statement.

Later all vehicles born from the Qijing brand will be equipped with Huawei Qiankun's most advanced smart technology, which of course provides an impressive experience for users.

The collaboration between GAC and Huawei has actually been established since 2021, at that time together developed L4 autonomous vehicles for mass production in 2024, but they were canceled. But both are committed to collaborating, including creating new brands.

There are no further details regarding the model penetration that will be presented, but based on local media reports the first model will launch in 2026.
