Minister Of Home Affairs Loosens Foreign Travel Rules For Regional Officials

BATAM - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian gave permission to regional heads and state civil servants (ASN) to travel abroad, especially for medical purposes, considering the improving domestic conditions.

"Previously, I postponed my departure abroad because of the unstable situation. But now, if the area feels safe, I will give permission," Tito said at a government coordination meeting in Batam City, Riau Islands, Sunday, September 21, quoted from ANTARA.

Tito emphasized that permits will be given to regional heads who wish to travel abroad, both for treatment and official affairs, provided that the area is in a safe condition.

"For official travel or treatment, of course I will allow it," he added.

"Furthermore, the Head of the Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benny Irawan, the Minister of Home Affairs, has relaxed the Rules for Overseas Travel for Regional Officials to consider granting permission," explained Benny.

Benny also conveyed that the Minister of Home Affairs carried out a working visit to Batam to attend the KAHMI consolidation event as the mainnote speaker on Saturday (20/9/2025), before continuing the coordination meeting of the government throughout Sumatra on Sunday.

"This Rakor is held in various regions, and this time in Sumatra, it was attended by representatives from all provinces in the area," said Benny.
