Bengkulu Champion Of Minimum Unemployment, 'beat' Big Province In Sumatra
BENGKULU Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan stated that the unemployment rate in Bengkulu Province is the lowest on the island of Sumatra based on the latest data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) 2025.
"Alhamdulillah, Bengkulu's unemployment rate is the lowest in Sumatra. This is proof of the joint work of the entire community, the business world, and the government. We must not be complacent, in fact, we must be more enthusiastic about opening up more new jobs," said Helmi Hasan in Bengkulu, Antara, Sunday, September 21.
BPS RI released the latest data on the open unemployment rate (TPT) as of February 2025. In the report, Bengkulu recorded the lowest number in Sumatra, which was only 3.24 percent and far below the average other provinces on the island of Sumatra.
In comparison, West Sumatra recorded TPT at 5.69 percent, North Sumatra 5.05 percent, Aceh 5.50 percent, and Jambi 4.48 percent. Even large provinces such as Riau 4.12 percent and Lampung 4.07 percent.
Helmi Hasan expressed his appreciation to all parties who have worked hard to maintain regional economic stability for this achievement.
He emphasized that the Bengkulu Provincial Government will continue to encourage the growth of the MSME, investment, and creative industry sectors so that job creation is increasingly massive.
"Our focus going forward is to ensure that the people of Bengkulu have wider job opportunities, increased income, and finally better welfare," he said.
