Low-cost Mass Production Of MacBooks Begins Soon
JAKARTA - According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is rumored to be starting mass production for a low-cost version of the MacBook in the fourth quarter of 2025. This device will use the A18 Pro processor, which is the same chip as the one used on the iPhone 16 Pro.
Kuo first claimed that Apple was designing a MacBook with an A-series processor in June 2025. Its prediction at the time stated that production would begin in late 2025 or early 2026. Now, he is updating his predictions and says mass production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Although production began later this year, product launch is not expected to take place in 2025. Given Apple's historical production and delivery schedule, it is likely that this MacBook will be released in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition, Kuo also provided several other details regarding this device. This more affordable MacBook is expected to have a screen measuring about 13 inches and present in several color choices, namely silver, blue, pink, and yellow.
Kuo also estimates that Apple is targeting sales of between 5 to 7 million MacBook units throughout 2026. The main reason this product is considered a low-cost model is because of the use of the A18 Pro processor. The A-series chip is smaller and cheaper to produce than the M-series chip currently in other MacBook lines.
The existence of this low-cost MacBook is also supported by another report from July 2025, which found references to an unidentified Mac in the Apple Intelligence code.
In addition, Kuo mentioned that this second-generation model of MacBook may be released in 2027 and potentially equipped with a touchscreen.
