Within 6 Hours, PPGA Records Men's Lewotobi Mountain 19 Times Eruption

LABUAN BAJO - Officer of the Lewotobi Men's Volcano Observation Post (PPGA) noted that Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) experienced an eruption 19 times on Sunday, in the observation period from 12.00 WITA to 18.00 WITA.

Officers of the Mount Lewotobi Volcano Observation Post (PGA) Male Emanuel Rofinus Bere stated that 19 eruptions were observed with a height of 500-3500 meters and gray smoke.

"The mountains are clearly up to 0-I fog. Weak pressure crater smoke is observed to be white with moderate to thick intensity and 50-200 meters high above the crater peak," he said in a statement received in Labuan Bajo, Antara, Sunday, September 21.

He added that 19 times the eruption was recorded with an amplitude of 7.4-47.3 mm and a duration of 466 seconds to 303 seconds.

Furthermore, during the observation period there were also two earthquake avalanches with an amplitude of 2.9-4.4 mm, a duration of 35-50 seconds, eight earthquake gusts with an amplitude of 5.9 mm to 29.6 mm and a duration of 35 seconds to 43 seconds, and two low-frequency earthquakes with an amplitude of 2.9 mm to 5.9 mm with a duration of 23-28 seconds.

Furthermore, four volcanic earthquakes occurred with an amplitude of 4.4 mm, S-P: 1.6 seconds, a duration of 2.3 seconds with a duration of 10-20 seconds, and four distant tectonic earthquakes with an amplitude of 3.7-37 mm, S-P: 14.5-58 seconds with a duration of 58-140 seconds.

"The weather is sunny and cloudy. The wind is blowing weakly to the west and northwest. The air temperature is 25.3-33.1 degrees Celsius," he said.

Meanwhile, currently Mount Lewotobi Male is at Level IV (Awas) Status. Therefore, the public and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a six km radius and the south-southwest sector of seven km from the epicenter of Mount Lewotobi Laki.

The public is also advised to be calm and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues whose sources are unclear.
