The Minister Of Home Affairs Has Started Allowing Regional Heads To Travel Abroad
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian allows regional heads and state civil servants (ASN) who want to travel abroad, especially for medical purposes, because the situation in the country has improved.
"I did this postponement of my departure abroad yesterday because of the vulnerable situation, but now if you want to go abroad as far as the area, I believe it is safe, I will allow it," Tito said in a coordination meeting of government throughout Sumatra in Batam City, Riau Islands, Sunday, which was confiscated by Antara.
Tito emphasized that the granting of permits will be considered for regional heads who want official trips abroad for medical or official travel purposes, by ensuring that the area is in a safe situation.
"And that's for the official (travel), for fine treatment (permissible)," he said.

In line with that, the Head of the Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benny Irawan, explained that the Minister of Home Affairs had asked regional heads not to leave their area during conditions prone to waves of demonstrations that occurred on August 25-29, 2025.
He said demonstrations took place in almost all regions in 35 provinces in the country, but not all of them were chaotic, some were safely under control.
"Earlier he (Minister of Home Affairs-ed) said, because conditions have improved, if there are officials in the regions or ASN who carry out their duties abroad, especially for health treatment, they will be considered to be allowed," said Benny.
Benny added that the Minister of Home Affairs carried out a special working visit to Batam to attend a consolidation meeting at the KAHMI event as a keynote speaker on Saturday (20/9), then continued the coordination meeting of the government throughout Sumatra, Sunday, September 21.
"This meeting was held in several areas, today it was held in Sumatra, attended by all provinces in Sumatra," said Benny.
In the coordination meeting, he said, the Minister of Home Affairs gave several directions to regional heads throughout Sumatra, first regarding the situation of regional security and order, then related to regional fiscal management.
