Suspecting Reasons For Purnomo's Resignation From The Candidate Exchange For Mayor Of Solo

JAKARTA - The candidate for Mayor of Solo who is nominated by the PDI Perjuangan DPC Achmad Purnomo will resign from the 2020 Pilkada candidacy. The reason is that he feels that he does not have the heart to compete in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This regional election was planned to be held on September 23, but due to this pandemic, the schedule was shifted to December 9.

"I do not have the heart that in the midst of the pandemic, the corona pandemic has not ended how come campaign activities are held," said Purnomo in Solo, Friday, April 24.

"Therefore, if it is true (implemented) on December 9, I will submit a request to resign from the candidate for mayor," he added, adding that his running mate Teguh Prakoso would also withdraw from the candidacy.

He has delivered this resignation to the Chairman of DPC PDIP Solo, FX Hadi Rudyatmo orally. Rudi, he said, agreed with this choice.

Meanwhile, a written resignation letter will be submitted in the near future.

Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bapilu) DPP PDI Perjuangan Bambang Wuryanto said the central management had not received the resignation letter.

"We, the DPP party, have not accepted Pak Pur's resignation (Achmad Purnomo)," said Bambang when confirmed by reporters, Friday, April 24.

Bambang was reluctant to comment when it was said that Gibran Rakabuming Raka would definitely be a candidate for PDIP solo mayor, after Purnomo resigned. He chose to wait first for the resignation letters from Achmad Purnomo and Teguh Prakosa.

Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review, Ujang Komarudin, said that Purnomo's statement was only an excuse. He suspected that Purnomo's resignation was because he was sure he could not get a recommendation letter from the PDI-P to advance in the 2020 Pilkada.

"Achmad Purnomo's resignation could be due to disappointment because he might not be recommended to be a candidate for Mayor of Solo from the PDIP. It should be him, Deputy Mayor of Solo (currently) and old cadres in the PDIP. However, because of Gibran, Achmad Purnomo was finally eliminated," he said. said said.

When this happened, Ujang thought that there was something wrong with this bull-bearing party cadre system. Moreover, Purnomo is an old cadre in the party led by Megawati Sukarnoputri.

However, Ujang considered that Purnomo's resignation had an advantage. This means that the PDIP only has a single candidate in the Solo Pilkada, namely Gibran who is President Joko Widodo's son.

"In fact, the PDIP is happy if there is no challenger to Gibran. Because it will be the sole candidate," he said.

PDIP has announced one candidate for regional head at the provincial level and 47 candidate pairs at the district / city level. However, there are several regions where candidates for regional head have not been determined by this party, namely Solo, Makassar and the regency / city of Bali.

Some time ago, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the areas that had not been announced were actually ready to be conveyed to the public who the candidates received a recommendation letter from the party. However, at that time many aspirations came in so that the announcement for the region, especially Solo City, was delivered after 23 February.

"Basically, Solo City is ready. However, the implementation is according to the aspirations, after February 23rd. Later it will coincide with candidates from Bali and also several provincial capital cities such as Makassar," said Hasto some time ago.
