100 Children From Underprivileged Families Start Learning At West Sulawesi People's School

MAMUJU - As many as 100 students from underprivileged families began to participate in the learning process at the West Sulawesi Provincial People's School (Sulbar).

"He has been following the teaching and learning process since August 15, 2025," said the person in charge of the West Sulawesi People's School, Idham Halik, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 21.

In the early stages of the 2025 school year, the People's School in West Sulawesi was attended by 100 students who had been prepared for free education

"So for this initial stage, as many as 100 students have entered the dormitory," said Idham Halid, who is also the Head of the Handling of the Poor at the West Sulawesi Provincial Social Service.

As many as 100 students who entered the People's School were children who had underprivileged family backgrounds consisting of 50 junior high school students and 50 high school students.

Previously at the launch of the People's School in Kalukku District, Mamuju Regency, Head of the West Sulawesi Provincial Social Service Abdul Wahab Hasan Slour expressed his appreciation for the trust of the central government which has made West Sulawesi one of the locations for the implementation of the People's School program.

"People's schooling is not only about education, but about social justice. We move together to ensure that every citizen, without exception, gets the opportunity to learn, develop and live a better life," said Abdul Wahab.

According to Abdul Wahab, the People's School is not just a place to study, but also a space for empowerment and character formation.

"We want to create an inclusive, humanist and grounded learning environment, where everyone regardless of background has the opportunity to grow and develop," he explained.

The launch of the People's School in West Sulawesi shows the government's strong commitment to encouraging social justice through education.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs, provincial governments, civil society organizations and volunteers is the main key to the success of this program.

"With the presence of the People's School, the West Sulawesi Provincial Government hopes to create an education ecosystem that is more empathetic, adaptive and empowers. This is in line with the national vision to build an advanced and inclusive Indonesia," explained Abdul Wahab.
