PTPN IV Distributes 15 Fire Engine Units To BPBD Riau

PEKANBARU - PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV PalmCo Regional III distributed 15 fire engines (Damkar) complete with supporting equipment to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Riau Province.

SEVP Business Support of PTPN IV Regional III, Bambang Budi Santoso in Pekanbaru, Saturday, handed over the assistance received by the Secretary of BPBD Riau Abri Arianto Syamsir.

According to him, in an effort to prevent, handle, and control forest and land fires, it cannot be done partially, but must collaborate and synergize, both business actors, the government and community participation. "We believe, this synergy is the key in tackling disasters that every year lurk our area," said Bambang.

Through this social and environmental responsibility program, he said PTPN IV Regional III was committed to efforts to prevent and control forest and land fires in Riau in a sustainable manner.

One of his commitments began with maintaining the company's area to be free of forest and land during the entity's existence since the initial embryo of PTPN V in 1996.

Then, the commitment of the entity in supporting the Riau Government was also shown by sending a trained Damkar team, along with a fleet of fire engines and qualified equipment when the task force team focused on tackling forest and land fires in Rokan Hilir, Riau last July.

Secretary of BPBD Riau Abri Arianto expressed his high appreciation for the commitment of PTPN IV PalmCo and Regional III which continue to show its seriousness in helping the government overcome forest and land fires in Riau, including through the assistance distributed.

"We are grateful to PTPN IV PalmCo for joining the Task Force team so far, including the assistance received today, God willing, will really help us," he said.
