Russian And US Foreign Ministers Scheduled To Meet At UN General Assembly Sessions

Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzy said a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio was planned to be held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly.

"We expect the first meeting (between Foreign Minister Lavrov and US Secretary of State) since 2021," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel, quoted from TASS September 19.

"I can't reveal the details yet because they haven't. Obviously they will discuss various issues, both bilateral and multilateral. There is no agenda yet, but such meetings have been planned," Nebenzya added.

Foreign Minister Lavrov will lead the Russian delegation at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, where he will address on September 27. In addition, he will attend other scheduled meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, including with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

This year's UN General Assembly session opened on September 9. Meanwhile, High-level Week will take place from September 23 to 29.
